The Women Who Count Awards recognize the incredible women and chapters making a lasting impact across the accounting profession.

From mentorship and innovation to leadership and community impact, these awards celebrate those who are moving the industry forward and inspiring the next generation to do the same.

These awards are open to all women in accounting and finance; AFWA membership is not required. Awards will be presented at the Women Who Count Conference, attendance is not required to win.

AWARD CATEGORIES

The Transparency Trailblazer Award

Honors a woman who champions integrity, accountability, and ethical leadership within the accounting profession.

The Mentorship Impact Award

Recognizes a mentor who has made a lasting difference by guiding and empowering the next generation of women in accounting.

The Lifetime Commitment Award

Honors a professional whose career reflects long-standing dedication, leadership, and service to the accounting profession.

The Woman of the Year Award

Celebrates an outstanding woman whose leadership, achievements, and influence have made a meaningful impact on the accounting profession.

The Chapter Achievement Award

Recognizes a chapter that has demonstrated excellence in member engagement, programming, collaboration, and advancing the mission of supporting women in accounting.

The Emerging Leader Award

Honors a rising professional who is showing exceptional leadership potential and making an early impact within the accounting industry.

The Community Impact Award

Recognizes a woman who has created meaningful change beyond the workplace through volunteerism, advocacy, nonprofit involvement, or community leadership.

The Innovation in Accounting Award

Celebrates a woman who is transforming the accounting profession through innovation, technology, creative problem-solving, or forward-thinking leadership.

Nomination Guidelines

We encourage thoughtful, detailed nominations that clearly demonstrate why the nominee deserves recognition. Strong nominations help our judges better understand the nominee’s impact, leadership, and contributions to the profession and community.

Strong Nominations Include:

  • Specific examples of achievements, leadership, or contributions
  • Measurable impact such as growth, results, outcomes, or influence
  • Leadership contributions within their workplace, organization, chapter, or industry
  • Community involvement including mentorship, volunteerism, advocacy, or nonprofit work
  • Clear alignment with the award criteria for the selected category
